Daughters of Wisdom...

The Congregation of the Daughters of Wisdom was founded in France in 1703 by St Louis Marie de Mountfort and Blessed Marie Louise Trichet, after whom the Home is named. In the late 19th Century the Daughters of Wisdom spread to different parts of the world, with the first Sisters arriving in England in 1891. The Congregation began to flourish in England, the main work being in the field of education and health care.

In recent years, the Congregation has lived through major changes, and is increasingly working in collaboration and partnership with lay and other charitable organisations. The Sisters remain ever open to new possibilities, responding to current needs. This has been manifested by the opening of Marie Louise House, which though owned by the Congregation is being leased to and managed by The Hospital Management Trust, whose values and ethos are comparable to its own.

A Pastoral Care Team, led by Sister Philippe and Sister Margaret Ann, provide pastoral care and support to anyone who wishes to receive it at Marie Louise House. There is also a small Oratory within the Home in which Mass is celebrated regularly and services are held also for other denominations. In addition the Sisters lead a daily service of the Word of God and Holy Communion for R.C residents. Residents, staff and families are all welcome to attend services.
