Types of care provided
Coloma Court offers Nursing and Dementia care. Respite care is also provided depending on the short term availability of bedrooms. The home has recently achieved “Beacon” status as part of the Gold Standard Frame work.

The Gold Standard Framework is a national recognised quality assurance scheme optimising the care for people nearing the end of life, with focus on helping people to live well right up until their final days.
Accommodation
All 62 residents’ rooms are en-suite and 10 of them have walk-in showers. Residents are encouraged to bring with them personal decorative items to enhance the individuality of their room.
The home has 62 single resident rooms arranged over 3 floors. 52 rooms cater for nursing needs and the 10 rooms on the ground floor provide care for those residents who require nursing care as well as closer supervision. All rooms are en-suite, 10 of which have walk in showers. All the rooms are light and more spacious than is usual in care homes. The lounges and bedrooms are positioned in such a way as to take best advantage of the spectacular views afforded by the home over pasture land in one direction and the London skyline in the other direction. Each room has television, telephone and internet connections and there is a comprehensive nurse-call system throughout the Home. The ground floor 10 bedded unit has an internal courtyard and provides access to a secure sensory garden for the benefit of residents.
Staffing
A team of registered trained nurses manage the care of the residents supported by a team of competent carers. Coloma Court provides sufficient care staff at all times to meet the assessed needs of all residents. Support Service staff include administration and ancillary staff including those in catering, housekeeping, laundry and maintenance.
Reliability, honesty, integrity, friendliness and professionalism are all qualities we look for when recruiting staff. Prospective employees are screened by the Criminal Records Bureau and the Independent Safeguarding Authority. References are thoroughly checked prior to commencement in the post.
All staff receive regular training in moving & handling, food safety, health & safety, first aid, fire safety, and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults. Other additional training relevant to each post is provided in line with the latest developments and guidance in care practices as specified by the National Minimum Standards and the National Service Framework. Particular emphasis is placed on training staff to preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality and privacy of all residents within a warm and caring atmosphere.
Coloma Court is currently working towards achieving the national quality assurance programme the “Gold Standard Framework” .
The aim of this national programme is to improve the quality of care for residents nearing the end of their lives by improving co-ordination with the GP’s Primary Health Care and specialist palliative Care teams and reducing the number of admissions to hospital in the last stages of life allowing residents to be cared for effectively at the care home.
