Activity programme ...
Maureen Jackson is the Home’s activities co-ordinator. Maureen feels passionately that activities provided for the residents are an essential aspect of their care.
A full programme of varied and diverse activities is developed to meet the interests and abilities of all the residents. Activities include group work, one to one discussions, in-house entertainment and outings. A weekly programme is published and is available on each care area and at reception.
The home has a mini bus and regular outings are arranged to local places of interest, such as parks, garden centres, local museums, theatre, pantomime and The Bird of Prey and Animal Centre.
During the summer excellent use is made of the garden and we frequently dine alfresco style.
Special occasions and birthdays are always celebrated. Christmas brings the carol singing season with visits from local school children and even the staff put on a carol singing show! The Home hosts a Christmas Bazaar and a summer fete known as the ‘Strawberry Tea’.
A wide variety of entertainment (averaging 8 times per month) is provided by musicians and entertainers who come to the Home. Examples include:
Singers and musicians (pianists, violinist, accordionist)
Karaoke
Magician
Musicals of Broadway shows
Relatives and friends are always welcome to visit and participate in the life of the home.
Our aim is to ensure that the quality of life for each resident is enhanced and that the environment in which they live is stimulating, interesting, homely and comfortable.
