Alexian Brothers Care Centre, Moston, Manchester
The Alexian Brothers Care Centre is a 74-bed, dual-registered care home, providing long-term care for older people who require residential support and nursing care. The Care Centre also has a 17-place day facility, which is open Monday to Friday.
The current building was completed in 1992 and replaced the original hospital of the Alexian Brothers. The home is set within mature grounds, in a secure, gated development.
The Alexian Brothers is a Roman Catholic Congregation, originating in Belgium in the 14th century. It has been closely involved with the care of the elderly, in the local community, since first settling in Manchester, in 1875. This work has continued on the same site in Moston since 1884.
The Healthcare Management Trust (HMT) assumed responsibility for the operational management of the Care Centre in January 2006, in response to the Brothers’ need to step back from front-line management. In line with the objectives of HMT the Care Centre aims to provide the very best nursing and residential care. The emphasis is on ensuring that the care residents receive meets the standards that everyone would want for their own families and closest friends.
Our aim at the Alexian Brothers Care Centre is to preserve and maintain the privacy, dignity and individuality of all residents, in a warm and caring atmosphere, with sensitivity to their ever-changing needs.
